The Browning Automatic Rifle is a rifle designed to be a multipurpose semi-auto and automatic rifle during World War I. While somewhat successful in it's intended role, the United States military tired to modify it to be a light machine gun by getting rid of the semi-auto function and replacing it with an option to reduce the firing rate, along with a bipod. It was much less successful in this role, mainly because the BAR uses a 20-round detachable magazine, which means that it needs to be frequently reloaded when being used as a light machine gun.

Despite it's real world problems, the BAR is a great weapon in Allied Assault. It does great damage and has amazing accuracy. However, it's recoil is a problem, meaning that you'll have to burst fire two or three rounds in order for the gun to stay in control. The BAR can be seen used commonly by airborne troops throughout the game though at Spearhead and Breakthrough, it is a rare sight. The weapon is also used only once in Rising Sun. It is considered somewhat inferior to its German counterpart, the MP44.

Exactly the same as it is in Allied Assault. In the last single player mission, you spawn with Frank Minoso's, so don't drop it if you care about him. It can also be used in the Makin Atoll mission where the player has to fend off Japanese fighters while escaping to a submarine on a small raft. It has a somewhat higher rate of fire than its Allied Assault version and much more bigger and stockier in terms of appearance.
