M1917 revolver

From Medal of Honor

The M1917 is a .45 ACP chambered revolver used by the United States Military in WWI and WWII. Because of the .45 ACP's rimless design, two half-moon clips must be used to load the rounds into the revolver.

The M1917 was made because there wasn't enough M1911's ready for the US forces when the US joined WWI. During the inner-war years, the M1917 was kept because there was no need to replace them with M1911s, due to the military's small budget. When the US became involved in WWII, the M1917 was used until there were enough M1911s.

The M1917 was kept after WWII for reserve units, and wasn't declared obsolete until the early stages of the Vietnam War.

The M1917 appears in the second mission as your starting side-arm. While somewhat slow to reload, the M1917, can be very useful when in close-quarters or in a village where troops can be nearby. However, it does mediocre damage, which doesn't negate it's very slow reloading time.
