Nazi Germany, or the Third Reich, was Germany under the control of the National Socialist German Workers Party, which established a totalitarian dictatorship that existed from 1933 to 1945.Like the previous Weimar Rebublic the state was officially still called the Deutsches Reich (German Reich).In 1943, Großdeutsches Reich (Greater German Reich) became the official name.It was a major European power during the 1930s and 1940s due to it's massive military.During the Nazi Regime, Nazis killed many Jews in the Holocaust.

Surprisingly, Hitler, the leader of Nazi Germany, made a treaty with Russia.Nazi Germany had a succesful campaign against France, Denmark, Norway, and the lowlands and took control of or occupied those countries.Nazi Germany made a grave mistake when betraying Russia in Operation Barbossa.When the United States declared war on Nazi Germany in 1944, Germany started a slow retreat toward Berlin. In 1945, Nazi Germany was defeated.
