Type 100 submachine gun
From Medal of Honor
The Type 100 is a submachine gun adopted by Japan in 1942. The 1942 was the first SMG officially for use in the armed forces. Bergmann MP28s were used by the secret police, but the armed forces never got one.
The Type 100 uses the same 8x22mm round used by the Type 14 pistol.

The Type 100 is the first SMG you'll find in the game. As soon as you find it, you should replace your side-arm with it. It's 30-round magazine is much better than the piddly 6-round used by the M1917 revolver. Later on in the game, the Type 100 looses some of it's steam due to the introduction of the Thompson, but is still a fine alternate to it.
It's only real downfall is that it has bad accuracy. Burst-fire to make sure that the recoil doesn't get too out of control if you're trying to make a ranged shot.
