Type 97 Sniper Rifle

The Type 97 is a sniper rifle used by the Imperial Japanese Army. Essentially, it's a Type 38 rifle with a lighter stock, longer bolt and a 2.5x telescope. It was used with success by Japanese snipers due to the low flash and smoke it produced when fired.

The Type 97 is the first sniper rifle you'll find in the game. It can be found as early as the beginning of the Makin Atoll raid, and it should be kept if found. It's scope is a great way to check an area for hiding troops. It also makes it much easier to take out enemy snipers, whom usually hide on stands built near the top of trees.
